I've just finished reading R. Scott Bakker's 'The Judging Eye'. I could gush on for hours about how great I thought this was (can you tell that I enjoyed it?) but I'll just say that it's Bakker doing what he's done before... but better! My full review is over Here.
I'm now reading 'The Stealer of Souls', a collection of Michael Moorcock's Elric tales... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I read Charles Stross' 'The Clan Corporate' over the weekend, third in a series about dimension hopping drug dealers and the plots that they spend their time hatching against each other...
I haven't read the previous two books and it swiftly became clear that this was not the best place to start reading! It's still an interesting read though with plenty to get your head around. My full review is over Here.
I'm now well into Michael Moorcock's 'The Stealer of Souls' and have got Rebecca Levene's 'Anno Mortis' on the go as well. _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

Just finished House of the Stag by Kage Baker and I enjoyed it. Thanks Deornoth. It's a straightforward story, nicely written and engaged me more then the last couple of books have of late. Took me a while to read through lack of time not through any disinterest.
Manty, if you see this give it a go, I think you'll like the main character. _________________

I'm really glad you liked it Lizzy, it's not far off being one of my favourite books of the year
I've just finished reading 'The Stealer of Souls', a collection of Michael Moorcock's 'Elric' stories. This was a real 'book of two halves' for me, I love 'Stormbringer' but some of the tales within 'The Stealer of Souls' (from which the book takes it's name) just didn't work for me... My full review is over Here.
I'm now well into Rebecca Levene's 'Anno Mortis' (the Roman Empire under attack from the undead!) and am on the lookout for something nice and short in the reading pile which will take me up to the weekend... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I've just finished reading Rebecca Levene's 'Anno Mortis' in which the undead attack Ancient Rome! I found the pacing to be a little off (okay, a lot off...) which led to me skim reading what felt like an awful lot of filler. When things got going though they really kicked off with zombies riding chariots, a unique approach to zombie siege warfare and lots of heads being chopped off. And the line 'Shoot them in the head' is used! An enjoyable light read for the tube to work... My full review is over Here.
I'm now well into Paul Kemp's 'Shadowrealm'...
P.S If anyone is going to Jame's signing at Forbidden Planet tonight, I'll see you there _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I've just finished reading Paul S. Kemp's 'Shadowrealm', third book in the 'Twilight War' trilogy. I got the sense that Kemp peaked with the second book and hit a plateau here but 'Shadowrealm' was still a mightily entertaining read that I had a lot of fun with. My full review is over Here.
Next up is James Barclay's 'Ravensoul'! (It was great to finally meet you last night! ) _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

Graeme... thanks for that review. Tis a heart-warming thing to read.
Great that you loved the book. The test of if was always going to be the keenest of Raven-ites and it seems to be passing the test thus far.
Really good to meet you too. No doubt that will be the first of many such though next time, I feel some form of beverage might be in order.
Damn that dust... _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

I'm glad you liked the review
We do need to meet up at least one more time. As I was on the train home I realised that not only had I not picked up the two 'Ascendants' books but I'd also forgotten to bring my other 'Raven' books in to be signed...
I'll buy you an extra pint _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I've just finished "Nikt" by Magdalena Kozak - a third and final book in a series about modern vampires - and more precisely, a special anti-terrorist force made of vampires. If it were ever translated into English, I would recommend it - perhaps my story synopsis does not sound very appealing, but the three novels are really fast-paced and fun to read. And the author herself knows really a lot about special forces, military and weapons, so you can be assured that she makes no mistakes when she describes anti-terrorist tactics and fights.
And now I'm into Gaiman's "Graveyard Book". If only I had a little more time on my hands... _________________

Finished reading the Jerle Shannara trilogy.
Thought this trilogy was the best Terry brooks series out of the things i've read by him so far. Walker Boh is a really good character.
I'm onto 'The word and the void' next _________________ I phoned a psyhic hotline and they told me they see a large phonebill in my future |
