Is that the Original LoTR Hugo or the Scifi LoTR Hugo?

Ideas for The Unknown...
Michael Chiklis
Looks a bit too short.
Avery Brooks
Would actually be interesting, but perhaps too well spoken, too polite-sounding if you know what I mean. Needs more power in his voice to suit the role.
Bruce Willis
Okay, no pic needed - but probably too famous and too old.
Can't think of anyone else. Vin Diesel? If that happened, I'd not watch the movie to save my girlfriend a lot of venting time. |

And anyone else who knows he can't act
Avery Brooks is an interesting idea, actually, although I think you may have a point about the voice. He could of course try to change it, unless he has the verbal ability of Hugh Grant, but I suspect he's actually a lot better. He can certainly act a lot better _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |

I'll probably get shot for this but...
I'm wary about a movie adaptation. I mean, yeah, it would be amazing to see the Raven on the big (or small) screen, but I wouldn't want it to change the way I see the characters. I have a very unique take on them...
For me, the only person who could ever play the Unknown (and I'm half convinced he IS him after THAT headbutt) is Zinedine Zidane. Okay, he's not an actor, and neither is the guy who is my image of Hirad - Hagar the Horrible.
...
But I do kind of agree with David Tennant for Ilkar. He's got that kind of sparkliness about him. I do see Ilks being a bit prettier though... It's funny how you imagine things... _________________ That's what you call a British sense of irony; |

Lol. I can't help it. They just fit the images my warped brain formed when reading the books. ^_^ At least I know that someone could pull of a Raven comic book... _________________ That's what you call a British sense of irony; |

Welome to the forum Gasara, I rarely find movies as good as books for exactly that reason. Unknowns would be best I reckon, but not convinced about footballers...
As for David Tennant, well he's not my idea of Ilkar but he is easy on the eye.... _________________

Not convinced about footballers? Have you never seen Alan Shearer in The Match?! Lol...
Really, though, I think unknowns are the way to go... My reasoning for David Tennant is that while he isn't my image of Ilkar either, he's got the same kind of air about him. There isn't actually anyone I can think of in the public eye who even vaguely resembles how I imagine Ilks looking. Therefore, the search needs to include unknown actors. Fans of the books would be even better because they'd be passionate about the project, too.
On a vaguely random note, I'd love to see how Fidget and Denser's familiar would look. _________________ That's what you call a British sense of irony; |

I liked Fidget, or at least Blackthorne's way of treating him and his name _________________

I'm just suggesting actors I like now and trying to fit a character to them, but how about as Baron Blackthorne? _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

I don't think we've ever really suggested anyone to play Thraun have we? I'm going to change that with my suggestion of Tyler Mane (sabretooth from X-men, King Ajaz in Troy). At 6'8" he's no small man. Used to be a wrestler in the early days of WCW. _________________ "Right so we're going to steal a bomb that can be remote detonated, take it back to our base and then huddle around it? I could see Jude Law as Denser.
I like the idea of Ray Stevenson as Unknown (I think he could pull off a bit of gravitas)
How bout Liam Neeson as Sha Kaan
I think Colin Farrell would make a good Hirad.
And finally James Barclay as Dystran |
