My first fantasy book was Dawnthief. My cousin bought it for me for Christmas, and it was awesome. I then found we had The Hobbit at home and read that and that further concreted my enjoyment of fantasy.
Before that, I was enjoying quite a lot of sci-fi and humour fiction, but mostly humorous sci-fi...which began with The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to The Galaxy, which I also found at home...we seem to have heaps of classics at my house, we have several bookcases full of books, because my mum goes to bookfairs and sometimes libraries sell books at a tiny cost and my mum always buys plenty, so I've always been able to go to a bookcase and find something to read when I'm bored. _________________ Ian Fulguirinas(dragonkillernz) |

Domes of Fire by Eddings, just going on holidays with my parents, and in the departure lounge saw this book, and bought it. Even tho there were books before it i should have read, i still loved it, and when i came back, I started building my fantasy book empire! _________________ Excuse me, is your refrigerator running? Eddings was at his best with the Elenium and Tamuli series IMHO, and his earlier epics (the Belgariad and Mallorean) are ones I always enjoy as they were the first fantasy books that hooked me. Sparhawk is a pretty good fantasy hero - a rounded character, and I really bought into the whole Church Knights concept in the books. _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

I have to be honest i really only like the sparhawk series. The first two series, althalus and the elder gods is it, havent really done it for me.
I still remember the first time i read domes of fire and about Zalasta taking on the hooded figure in the ring of fire, with Sparhawk and the Pandion Knights fighting the trolls to protect Ehlana. It was something like, Sparhawk heard a voice chanting in styric...It was Zalasta. Still one of my favourite scenes from any book i have read! _________________ Excuse me, is your refrigerator running? I can't decide which series i prefer tho, they are both excellent! One of my favourite characters from it has to be Dolmant, and come to think of it Kalten and Talen and Martel! _________________ Excuse me, is your refrigerator running? I have a soft spot for Kalten - I know it's childish, but his inability to spell makes me laugh each time I read that bit!
Manty - read them again. You know you want to! _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

Do it Mant, you know it makes sense! Sparhawk coming back to watch over Ehlana, going on the search for Bhelliom, the rise of Dolmant to Archprelate. Then on into the Tamuli series. Fantastic reading! _________________ Excuse me, is your refrigerator running? Because if it is, it probably runs like you - very homosexually - Peter Griffin |

A David Eddings fan? A real one?
Ok, the Sparhawk books I can understand as I enjoyed them myself, kind of, but PLEASE tell me 'The Dreamers' isn't just 'not doing it' but is actually making you vomit. Awful, awful writing.
If you haven't already, read 'The Belgariad'. _________________ Pagan Music |
