And yet you still cared enough to waste everyone else's time with a pointless snipe at a topic that other folks are genuinely interested in talking about...
Also interesting is the idea that you think football is a greater evil - wasting-money-wise - than, oh, I don't know... the war in Iraq? Heroin addiction? Alcohol abuse? Reality TV..? |
Hey, i'm interested in football and I still think he has a point. Just because there are other things around that are also huge wastes of money doesn't mean that he's not right.
I'm a lifelong Newcastle fan and I still think that the amounts of money spent on the sport is ridiculous when there are other things around that the money could be much better spent on. _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |

OK, I've voted - don't want Ariel having a pop at me for my jocular post - I really can't see anyone toppling Chelsea!
Nice one Drizzt Speaking as a Leicester fan I'm just wondering who's going to own us next week _________________ "Constant Vigilance!" |

It'll be interesting to see what happens over the xmas period. Man Utd habitually destroy everything in site over the festive period, normally with Scholes scoring about 16 goals in 6 games, and if they do so again Chelsea will be hard pushed to keep pace. The good thing is they have the squad and the ability to do just that.
Liverpool are out of it, never to be seen again. They cannot win it - but they can cause the other top teams a few headaches. _________________ Pagan Music |

Yeah, fair enough. Maybe he just needs to think before he posts and try to phrase himself a bit better... or maybe I need to stay off the forum until I've had my third cup of coffee of the morning... I might be able to suffer fools a bit more gladly by that stage, and might not be so grouchy... _________________ www.uksfbooknews.net - fantasy, sf, horror and graphic novel news from UK genre authors, creators and publishers.

Turn of phrase is all that was...
But just to drag things brutally back on-topic, I think Man U will have an easier time of it this season if only because Chelsea are now established as the team to beat, which means that everyone else will raise their game against them to the nth degree.
Whereas Man U and Arsenal are still teams to be feared, so the opposition will be a bit cagier, especially now Rooney is back on form and Arsenal have put in a couple of good results...
Should be interesting for a change, anyhow. _________________ www.uksfbooknews.net - fantasy, sf, horror and graphic novel news from UK genre authors, creators and publishers.

I'm sure you're not really a grouchy old man
Not to wind you up, Drizzt but where are Sunderland in the table atm? I've not been keeping tabs on them recently. _________________ "I sit on my arse, not my head." - Baron Gresse. |

The Mighty Yellow army that is Oxford United line up against Gravesend for the 19th League game this season winning it will extend the new league unbeaten record we have in the conference....YEY!! come on Oxford!!
BTW: is it me or is the Premier leage starting to resemble the SPL, IE only a few teams able to compete for the title?? |

Been like that for years mate. Only four tems have actually won it so far, after all, and Blackburn could arguably be considered something of a fluke - if Man U had managed one more goal against West Ham on the last day of that particular season they would have won it instead... _________________ www.uksfbooknews.net - fantasy, sf, horror and graphic novel news from UK genre authors, creators and publishers.

so what can be done to level the playing field?
move the ultra money teams into a euro league? or set limits on seasonal spending? |

i don't think that matters really, yes its generally only a few horses in the race but that changes over time as different team fight their way up the top and suddenly are in the spot light.
Spurs and Liverpool used to be in the top of the division now look at them |
