As for "classics" (so to say, it's 20th century), I am a great fan of Graham Greene. "Brighton Rock", "The Third Man", "The Quiet American" are my favourites.
At the moment I'm not reading much, apart from the books I am currently translating. Hopefully sometime in May I should have a bit more time. _________________

Finished reading Adam Roberts' 'I Am Scrooge', a cross between 'I Am Legend' and 'Dawn of the Dead' set in Dickensian London. While it doesn't stand up to a more indepth read, I still had a lot of fun reading it and watching Ebeneezer Scrooge fight his way through hordes of zombies. My full review is over Here. I'm now working my way through Kristin Cashore's 'Fire' amongst others... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

Language Myths sound quite interesting (OK, I'm a linguist, so my perspective here may be a bit biased). _________________

Finished reading Dan Abnett's 'Triumff', a swashbuckling romp set in an alternate history where magic has superceded technology in an Anglo-Hispanic Empire. Although the descriptive pieces suffered from 'padding' the rest of the book was a great read, full of dashing swordplay and plenty of humour. My full review is over Here. The plan now is to finish off 'Fire' tonight... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I really need to get round to reading that...
Finally finished reading Kristin Kashore's 'Fire', a prequel to last year's 'Graceling'. There's a lot more to this book, than there was to it's predecessor, and this made for an engaging read. It was just a shame that the approach taken, with the leading character, was such that several of the resolutions were signposted far too early... My full review is over Here. I'm now reading Joe Mckinney's 'Quarantined' and plan on starting 'The Sad Tale of the Brother's Grossbart' over the weekend... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I'm a few books behind (currently on Midnight Tides) but the series is compelling, if a little wordy at times). _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

You could always start on the series that Ian Cameron Esslemont is writing if you haven't already. For those who don't know, co-created the Malazan world. _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

Finished reading 'Nightlight, a parody of 'Twilight' by the Harvard Lampoon. It riffs off the same joke a little too much but it never failed to at least make me smile, if not laugh out loud. My full review is over Here. I'm still working my way through 'The Sad Tale of the Brother's Grossbart', a book that I think I'm enjoying too much to let the pages go quickly. I've got other books on the go as well... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I've got standards? Woohoo!!!
Have you read 'The Fire Wolves' yet? Loved that one...
Ended up staying up late last night to finish off 'The Sad Tale of the Brother's Grossbart', the tale of a graverobbing trek across Europe and the mayhem it causes. While I had some issues with the pacing and a story that verged on the repetitive I still enjoyed 'The Sad Tale...' immensely and would recommend it to anyone, really got into it and was sad to see the book end. My full review is over Here. I'm after something a little lighter now so am well into Karen Traviss' '501st' (an 'Imperial Commando' novel) _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

6 suspects - Vikas swarup : Its the same author as Q+A aka slumdog millionaires. Im about a 3rd of the way through, its pretty good stuff , although at this point im not seeing how it will all tie together. He paints a good picture and moves at a decent pace in an interesting way. There is one brief mention of Chivas whiskey in the story and it inspired me to buy a bottle, so even if this book does nothing else , its pushed me towards a new found pleasure, cozy nights and a rosey red nose. Interestingly I havent read Q+A so this is my first foray into Vikas' work, maybe it'l allow me to see slumdogs in a new light. _________________ I always knew Chang was Chinese Intelligence.
