Just finished re-reading Ian Cameron Esslemont's 'Night of Knives', just as good as it was the first time round although I didn't notice too much difference between the Bantam and PS Publishing editions (and I was told that there would be). Other than the maps in the Bantam edition things looked pretty much the same to me... It's still a great read though and an insight into a 'bigger picture' that the Malazan world has to offer! My full review is over Here. I'm now well into Richard Morgan's 'The Steel Remains' which, so far, is living up to everything that's been said about it... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

I've just finished Richard Morgan's 'The Steel Remains', high octane stuff with lashings of profanity and gore (and other stuff...), I was cool with this but this isn't one for the easily offended! It doesn't do anything new but what it does do is done very well. It will be interesting to see where this one goes next... My full review is over Here.
Now starting David Gunn's 'Death's Head: Maximum Offense'... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

Still reading McLeods "House of Storms". And while I still love the way the world is created (really magnificent imagination), I've found I really can't get "into" the books, because I positively dislike the main characters. So it's a slow going. I planned to read it on the train today (3 hrs total), but after a dozen of pages I decided nap is a great idea.
And I don't want to say it's a badly written or a boring book - it's really great in some aspects. Only the characters are a problem for me. |

I've just finished reading David Gunn's 'Maximum Offense', the sequel to 'Death's Head'. It's full of everything that the first book had (lots of sex, gunfights and explosions) but ramped up a couple of gears. For all it's action it's strangely shallow though. An entertaining read if you accept it for what it is, give it a miss if you're after something meatier... My full review is over Here.
I'm now starting on Jeff Somers' 'The Digital Plague' and it's looking pretty good from what I've read so far! _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review

Not a coulpe of too bad, dragged in places but with a couple of class characters in. Garet Jax the weapons master being one of them.
Heirtage of shannara next i think. _________________ I phoned a psyhic hotline and they told me they see a large phonebill in my future |

I forgot to say I've also just read The Burning Man by Mark Chadbourn. Brilliant, fast paced, gripping, shocking and funny. _________________

There's a copy of this heading towards me I've never read anything by Mark Chadbourn so it will be interesting to see what it's like...
I've just finished Jeff Somers' 'The Digital Plague', the latest installment in his 'Avery Cates' sequence. It's an action packed ride through a hail of bullets, very much like Richard Morgan's sci-fi stuff but less heavy on the politics. I had a little issue in that I thought the plot lost it's focus at one point, a great read the rest of the time though! My full review is over Here.
I fancied sticking with sci-fi for a little while longer (saving 'The Born Queen' for the weekend) so I'm now into Theodore Judson's 'The Martian General's Daughter'... _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review
