Did anyone see the first two episodes of Torchwood on BBC3 at the weekend? I really enjoyed them the mix of good dialogue, aliens, sex, violence, humour - it's all there. I like Cap'n Jack (and although a mate had to explain the hand in the jar thing, he does seem fun, weird and driven at the same time!).
Cardiff looked good as well, with the aerial shots, the nightlights, and its funky buildings. A good series I hope - it's certainly doing more for me than Robin Hood at the moment, which is nice, but nothing amazing. _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

I enjoyed Torchwood too.
It had some good lines in it. I'll be watching more.
Cardiff did look good and it is refreshing to see it set there instead of London.
Max can you PM the explanation about the hand please? _________________

Watched both episodes and was really pleased with the show.
I was concerned that it was going to be over the top about the sex and swearing since it has an adult audience but it struck just the right balance.
Looking forward to the rest of the series _________________ A very happy Yule to all!!

I loved it! There is some great TV on at the moment and every night there seems to be something I love. There is now Spooks, Robin Hood, Torchwood, Doctor Who (reruns on Sky), That Mitchell and Webb Look, and loads of others.
I like the idea of Torchwood and I can't wait to see how everything develops, I think it adds to Doctor Who and I like the fact that although it is very similar, there isn't as much "history" behind it like in Doctor Who which has been running for years, Torchwood is a refreshing change.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS EPISODE 2
Could someone please PM or explain the whole hand in the jar thing, my first thought was that it was the thing keeping him immortal, but that can't be right so I'm lost.. |

Fantastic, thanks Lizzy, I now realise that I have seriously missed out in the last series of Doctor Who, I knew Jack Harkness from the first "new" series with Christopher Ecclestone where Captain Jack was in a spaceship during world war two and the blitz, which might explain why he was last seen in 1941 on the human records? (just guessing) The christmas special which you referred to, was that ecclestone or the new guy? The 2nd series is showing on sky now so I'll have to keep watching. I can't remember if there have been 2 christmas specials, time goes so quick! |

The Dr Who Christmas special last year was the first one with David Tennant as the new Dr. This years Christmas special will be the second one since the show returned. Catherine Tate is going to be in it playing a bride who suddenly appears in the TARDIS. _________________ A very happy Yule to all!!

oh god, I'm not Catherine Tate's biggest fan, I have no doubt she will slip in "am i bovvered?" somewhere into that christmas special, since that's the only thing she is even slightly good at... |

Watched it last night, missed the first 20 minutes so didn't see the glove in action but I think I got the hang of it and on the whole I really enjoyed it and will definitely watch it again - I heard someone comment on the radio the other day that it's a shame they didn't give Robin Hood to Russell T. Davies
Oh, and I haven't got the vaguest idea what the severed hand bit was all about either and if you're looking to buy me a Christmas present then a bottle of that spray wouldn't go amiss _________________ "Constant Vigilance!" |

Would you like to know about the hand? _________________ A very happy Yule to all!!

ROFLMAO Jov, cheeky....
Okay, as I understand it the deal with the hand in the jar is:
In the Doctor Who Xmas special, The Doctor and Rose were on board an alien space craft over London, and the Doctor had a sword fight on the roof. His hand got chopped off and it fell over the side (he regenerated a new one and saved the day!). Jack/Torchwood must have recoved that and stored it. _________________

Took me till the end of the episode to remember about the hand.
Just watched the preview for episode 3 on the bbc website and it looks like more of the same good entertainment!! _________________ A very happy Yule to all!!
