I can't wait to see Julie Walters battling Helena Bonham Carter in film 7! I do agree though, that Fred dying made you cheer for Molly more.

Lupin and Snape are my two favourite characters and it was a shame, as Drizzt says, that he died without us noticing, whereas Snape got quite a cool scene. Bring on Alan Rickman!!!

I think on the whole death thing though, that the reviews I have read show that the younger readers still found the loss of certain characters powerful, even if you didn't witness their deaths. The Potter series isn't entirely about death, and Rowling still does the magical world very well - Gringotts was great fun, and the Ministry did make me chortle a little.

Yeah, I didn't get that. But, remember when Harry pulled the sword out of the sorting hat in Chamber? Like that do you think? He did have the hat on his head (although it was on fire). Does that sound plausible?

Actually, you may have a point there.

I like how Rowling managed to get in the swearing she wanted. She managed to get away with "effing". Razz

Conjecture about a hat doesn't quite cut it, for me. It should have been explained or done differently. Hehe...

I did like the darker side of Dumbledore's history Twisted Evil

That was good. For a time, also, when you see Snape's memories, you can really hate the guy (Dumbledore, that is).

Grindewald sounded like a fun character too, I would have liked to have seen more about him thgrough the books. And more about his duel with Dumbledore

That would have detracted from the main narrative though. He was just a part of Dumbledore's history so there would have been little point in having much more than she did about him.

He's a flawed, genius: a darker Dumbledore. To be honest, I'd have probably found him more interesting than Riddle.

Another reason why not to put too much more in Wink

I agree with Max, I look forward to seeing the scene where Molly Weasley batters Bellatrix. Should be good Twisted Evil

Molly Weasley...
NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!
I loved that part Very Happy

The whole book...well hm difficult to say, there are some really cool things, and also that 'puzzle-stuff' like the invisibility-cloak, and all that stuff she already mentioned earlier and now played a major role.
I LOVED it, how the Malfoys changed
Snapes background was somehow interesting (I always suspected, that he loved Lilly), although I would have prefered it, if he had stayed evil.
It was also great to see, that Dumbledore wasn't the saint everybody thought he was.
What I DIDN'T like were all those ups and downs, first everything went wrong, and you couldn't belive that any character would survive the first 200 pages, than everything changes within 10 lines untill Harry behaves so silly, that everybody is in extreme danger again only for the next surprising rescue Confused .
There were also far to much deaths , but with Tonks and Lupin it was a bit like Darrick in the Legends.
And Fred, well nooooooooooooooooo, why *sniff*.
And the end...well it sounded a bit like a (not very good) Fanfiction, and I wish shoe would have told, what happened to George

Sanpe turned out exactly as I imagined. It was slightly predictable but I really liked it and i'm glad he didnt stay evil.

He's one of those people who could have gone either way as a kid and ended up in with the bad lot but spent the rest of his life trying to make up for it. Kind of tragic in a way.

Thanks for the link Very Happy I found another interview with Rowling, but there she didn't say anything about George, and not much about Ginny and Luna Wink

Ok a bit behind the times I know but I read this last week. I really enjoyed it but also thought Tonks and Lupin's deaths a bit pointless because we didn't see them happen. But I guess that's what happens in a battle.

I always thought Snape and Dumbledore had a pact. I thought Dumbledore's darker side interesting.

But gods it was annoying that they didn't realise what he left them were clues - talk about slow on the uptake!!
