Hi A.I.

First on translations... I don't pick who translates, that's for Heyne to decide. I know my translator is well thought of but I also know that translations are sympathetic, rather than literal so there is bound to be subjectiveness. Sorry you don't like them.

As for the Ascendant fathers, well, it is more of a historical thing, there having been incidents in the past where fathers have killed their children, having got scard of many things like what the Ascendancy stands for, what their child might become, religious conversion, etc.

And it is not that easy to guess. The pool of potential fathers is reasonably large (in context) and more than one potential father will have sex with a potential mother around fertility times. This is both as a protective measure and to up the chances of successful conception. Potential fathers are kept away from the Ascendancy children too.

That's a simple overview, I hope it helps.

This is what I wanted to know Very Happy Thanks

PS: Don't get me wrong. I don't complain about the contextual translation, just about the gramatical and expressional errors.

What do you consider is better, the Ascendant-series or the Raven-series? Didn't read the Raven yet.

Difficult one to answer is that. The Ascendants books, though fantasy, are more more 'high' fantasy with a sprawling world, many nations and cultures, multitudes of characters etc.... the Raven books are heroic fantasy, more 'high-octane' all-action books. I loved both series but for different reasons.

If you haven't read 'em, I recommend you do. Wink

I prefer the Raven. Doesnt mean I dont like the Ascendancy but the action element of the Raven appeals to me more on a personal level I think.

I think I engaged more with the characters in the Raven series, but I thought the scope of the Ascendancy was fantastic. I also enjoyed the development of James as an author throughout Ascendants, which makes me particularly excited about the upcoming release of Ravensoul.
