Currently broke so can't afford anything new to read... looking over my collection and thinking about what to read.
Might try the Raven again, or perhaps Williams' Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. Also thinking of re-visiting the first few Dresden File novels as my girlfriend is currently reading them and I can't remember what happened in some of them. _________________ "You know what Jack Burton always says... what the hell?" |

Have just finished "Tailchaser's Song" by Tad Williams. It's pretty old, but I met Tad at a con a few weeks ago and heard him talk about it, so I decided to read it. Very sweet little novel about cats, and as I'm a cat person, that's enough. |

Took me a while, but I did end up enjoying the Historian quite a lot. _________________ "You know what Jack Burton always says... what the hell?" |

I have the Historian on my shelf to read but it's down the list after fantasycon. Currently on Druss the legend, then it'll be The Intruders by Michael Marshall, then Anansi Boys. _________________

Dead Beat - Jim Butcher. Pretty good so far. Mystery/supernatural stuff. Anyone else come across him? _________________ Taking off is optional, landing is mandatory. |

I just couldn't resist: Yesterday 'Tintentod' was released and I bought it it's the last book of Cornelia Funke's new trilogy (the first two books were even translated in English, rare honour for a german writer they're calle Inkheart and Inkblood).
I read the first 100 pages so far and really liked them although it seems as if I forgot most things that happened in the 2nd book _________________ The question that sometimes drives me hazy: Am I, or the others crazy?

Is it me or is there a serious lack of appreciation for teaching people historical facts these days?
I've once again caught a snippet of a book about the mythologies used in Harry Potter and there is a monumental blunder in at least one of the 'facts' included.
This being the character 'Fenrir Greyback', named after a wolf in Norse mythology. Correct.
It then goes on to say that Fenrir is the wolf that will swallow the sun at Ragnarok. WRONG! Fenrir is the wolf that kills Oden at Ragnarok and is then subsequently killed by the avenging son of Oden, Vidar.
The wolf that swallows the sun at Ragnarok is 'Skoll'.

I'm currently reading Carnacki: The Ghost Finder. It's a collection of stories originally printed back in the 1900s in magazines. It's really a supernatual version of Sherlock Holmes. Quite clever and forward thinking though.

I'm quite a fan of Butcher's Dresden series. I've read all but the latest book as it only seemed to get a limited hardback UK release and I didn't have the money to buy it at the time. They are a fun read with a developing story arc and a well detailed world. _________________ "You know what Jack Burton always says... what the hell?" |

Just finished reading Laurell K. Hamilton's 'Micah' last night. I usually can't stand her stuff so it was a nice surprise to actually enjoy this collection of short stories. I've written a review, in rhyming couplets for some strange reason, Here
Right now I've got Robin McKinley's 'DragonHaven' and Naomi Novik's 'Empire of Ivory' on the go _________________ Graeme's Fantasy Book Review
