I didn't like Troy that much and Eric Bana's character was a bit wet really.

Now Chopper, that's something else! Very Happy

You think that's wet? What about Orlando Bloom? If Eric Bana was wet, what was Bloom? Twisted Evil

I'd forgotten Orlando Bloom was even in Troy!

There's memorable for you Smile

Stick with me here, I see Rowan Atkinson as Denser...you're probably wondering how, but I'm watching Blackadder II on DVD at the moment and in there, he looks considerably like what I imagine Denser to look like when I read the books, and although he is a comic actor, most actors don't particularly enjoy being type-cast and I'm sure he could pull off an action role myself.

Besides, it's no worse than some of the other suggestions that have come up Razz

He's a lot older now though. Blackadder was years ago.

But Denser is older than Atkinson in the Blackadder years, at least, I imagined him to be.

Personally, myself, if I throw of the notion of him only being a comic actor, I can see it.

In Dawnthief at least Denser is described as a young mage, though casting the spell does age him. (I think. It's a woefully long time since I last read this.)

No LOTR actors. Indeed preferably no Alexander or Troy actors either. And no Arnie. Loved him in the Terminator but he is a little old by now.

I've said Hugh Jackman for Hirad before and I stand by it. Christopher Judge for The Unknown. And me as... well, Ilkar or Dystran in my dreams, and perhaps some minor mage in reality...

Lucky dreams are free, ain't it? By the way, I would suggest organising fans of the books as extras and walk ons purely because of the belief in the project. But that call wouldn't be up to me and upsetting Equity is not high on my list of things to do. Extras do it for a living and they need to work...

Christopher Judge would be an AWESOME Unknown.

Hugh Jackman is a fine actor, but no. Perhaps Adam Baldwin, he's a great actor and very funny, but i don't know if he's protagonist material.

Grace:" Arnie is somewhat busy trying to become the next US president (and we all know what they're like!) "

reply: Then they would need to amend the constitution, only US born can become president.

Mark D: "You never see a man dressed in skimpy garments!"

reply: Untrue! Conan the barbarian wear a loinclot most of the time, when he is not fighting totaly naked! (in Howard original novel)

----

Jen: "Womens clothing in fantasy is ridiculous"

reply: I mostly agree, historicaly the scythians womens (or was it the sarmatian?) fighted alongside with the men and weared the same thing as them. Although I accecpt the idea that some women might wear "light" clothing(or nothing at all) if it fit the character and situation (ex: the Zulu Pirate Queen in Conan novels wear nothing, but so all her Zulu Pirate witch are all male) Also don't forget the clothing Erienne wear to seduce Denser at the inn in Xetest:light robe and no panties! Embarassed (Dawnthief , ch23). Or the state of her pyjamas when the Ravens liberate her form Travers clutches. But doest she go adventuring in these garment? Of course not, it would be stupid.

Don't ask me why but I can see Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo in Rome) as the Unknown. Tall, bulky, can play both part of the character psyche (pre-protector, post-protector)

Also, I can see Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus in Rome) as Thraun. Bulky and just a bit shorter that Ray, he's somewhat the picture I made myself of Thraun.Oh, and he's already blond so no need of a hair dye.

Robert Carlyle as Denser. Why? Look at that picture http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0129332/Ss/0129332/1-6.jpg.html?path=pgallery&path_key=Carlyle,%20Robert%20(I)

Christian Slater as Will. He has the look and he already played another thief named Will in a movie( guess witch).

Ilkar, ummm... that tought one. Orlando is a no no, he don't has the look.
Maybe Liam Neeson? But he's a bit old for the job.
