So, what did we make of it?

It's a win. Most importantly of all, we got the three points. There's nothing worse than playing away, in less than brilliant conditions, against a potentially awful banana skin, and coming in at half-time to boos and knowing it's 0-0.

Gerrard was immense. He didn't play brilliantly but, in a sea of mediocre performances, he did stand out above the rest. Two good goals two, against any opposition. The scary part is how other players were so bad. Namely Downing and Lennon. The crossing was atrocious.

But, it's three points... Rolling Eyes

they were not good at all.
gerrard put in a beckham type performance, chasing down everything, back when becks was in full flow he led the team in enthusiasum and drive and i think maybe gerrard could do the same job, terry just does not cut it as captain.
downing was rubbish, rooney was a petulant child, the game did not really improve until he left the pitch, the opposition knew how easy it is to push his thuggish buttons.
Robinson was 2nd best player on the pitch..mainly becasue he didnt have a thing to do so didn screw up.

Nugent...LOL what a cheeky git...loved his stolen goal, defoe must have been well pissed Laughing

Oh yes. You can tell a true goal poacher when they do that!! And how dare Lineker pretend he wouldn't have done the same! Laughing

Downing was awful. It's a scary thought that he was 'found out' against Andorra. if you're gonna be found out, let it be against someone a bit better. Like a local school team, or a charity team of old women.

It was a good sign from nugent, we have not had an out and out goal poacher since Lineker, its amazing how many 6 yard goals are up for grabs when your in the right place, thats a talent not something you learn.

When he poaches against someone else, like Croatia, I'll be happy. It's hard to judge any good performance when you're up against postmen and fat blokes. Unfortunately, against such, poor performances are amplified and last night there were too many stinkers.

oh your preaching to the choir mate, last night while i accept that 11 men even fat posties behind the ball can make it tough to break down and score. But there were some terrible misses, poor passing, no invention except gerrard. we need some one to lead and inspire....

at least the run in now is on our side.

4 out of 6 games at home, we MUST beat Croatia, Israel and Russia to at least get 2nd place.

We really should beat all of them. Especially at home.

your not wrong to qualify with out doubt we need to win all remaining games. but unless things change i can see us not qualifying, i could see israel holding us again, Russia holding us and probably croatia.
Unless we get something new and make changes......well it aint gonna happen

they could forget their kit and get people out of the crowd and still give us a run for their money the way we are playing
