Wow, don't I feel crap for slating his work in the last couple of years. It's a major achievement the guy's kept writing at all after his wife's problems, and now this... fingers crossed things work out for him.

I don't really see why he threw the paper on it? Why did he want to know if it was flammable?

Not a nice story - and I assume losing (if he did) original manuscripts must be a bitter blow to any author.

For those not aware

A recent news article i read reported death of Leigh Eddings wife of David and co author of a number of his works. She passed away Wednesday the 28th of Feburary 2007 after a serious series of strokes.

despite my harsh words at his later work, the 2 of them worked on some very good books and did much to promote the fantasy genre, thoughts go out to David.
