Lou and I also went to watch this at the weekend. Again, very good movie. I was a little tentative about going to see it after reading some indifferent reviews but, for once, the reviewers got it wrong. This is a movie well worth watching.

The magic, and effects used to create it on screen, are very good. Too often in movies like this you'd expect huge effects taking over the screen from trick to trick; here the director (thankfully) played a more subtle game by keeping things simple. As a result, the tricks on show simply enhance the scenes rather than take them over.

Acting-wise, Ed Norton is excellent. Again, very understated but very effective. Rufus Sewell was born to play evil aristocratic madmen and even Jessica Biel isn't bad. But it's Paul Giamatti as the Chief Inspector who steals the film.

Yes, you'll see the twist coming from a mile away but, it's done in very polished and high class fashion so you won't care. Very good film.

Another excellent movie. Not one i'd normally go to see, but this did kind of stick out a bit and I thought I should check it out.
The acting is superb. Ed Norton is excellent as is Rufus Sewell, but as Drizzt says, Paul Giamatti steals it. His part is really good and you are never 100% sure just whose side he's on until the last but one, scene.
Again, the effects are simple, but extremely effective.

Well worth the money to go and see it.

I saw this on the plane coming home from NZ - Ed Norton is a fine actor, and Sewell is good as a bad guy (eg A Knight's Tale). I enjoyed the film, and was particularly impressed with Paul Giamatti (in agreement with Selik).
