Yep, a place where I can blither on to my heart's content about all those things in sport that make me very happy but mostly, bulging-eyed mad.

I trust you enjoy my continued rantings whenever you log in there...

I think what Sonea meant to ask was "what the hell's the point of cricket?"

<ducks>

No I didn't ever play rugby. Cricket is the quintessential English sport in that we invented it and are no longer best at it. Cricket is best watched with beer and sandwiches.

People from the vicinity of Manchester sometimes don't understand the glory of great sports such as cricket.

Don't know anything about superbikes. Unfortunately am bored by most motor sport apart from touring cars these days.

as for paintball, well it will probably get honourable mentions sometimes...

Aha! That's where you're wrong, old boy. Medieval manuscripts have been found, illustrated with pictures of happy French peasants playing a good old game of cricket... and if you Google 'origins of cricket' it seems the sport actually originated in the Middle East & India, arriving in Europe via Italy...

(Sorry, I got the QI book of General Ignorance for Xmas and I think I might be addicted...)

But since England ruled most of the world it still counts as being invented by English.

Perhaps there's a correlation between the decline of our empire and cricketing ability?
