Im a big fan of andy mcdermott...great fun to read and boy can he write...really prolific.
you should also try David Gibbins...his are a bit more details historically but thats because he is a marine archeologist...but its not to the extent it will bore you, his latest Mask of troy is really excellent. |

Pandora's Star by Peter F Hamilton. Great sci-fi writer, very interesting plot, if not a little similar to Night's Dawn Trilogy. _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

Decline and Fall by Evelyn Waugh.
I just love his effortless style and the accuracy of his humour. Brilliant stuff. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' A TaiGethen saying. |

Just started 'The Left Hand of God' by Paul Hoffman. Never heard of him or the book but the half-price sticker on the cover in Waterstones was too much to resist. Once this is polished off it's most likely time to steal a certain new Barclay book from Lou (Selik) so I can meet a young(er) Auum. _________________ Pagan Music |

An Auum who seems to do more talking than I recall from the Raven books. Enjoy. _________________ If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. |

I posted a thread about this one a while back, its a good read, very different from a lot of other fantasy out there. |

I just finished Sacred vault...the humour is still there i think the myth was a little stretched at this point, but his book turn over is phenominal..so i will forgive him...still a good 4/5 on amazon...took all of 2 days to read about 500 pages...
Amusing to read that he had one of his producer friends look at ...i think Tomb of H and cost it for a Movie...just roughlt...it came it a little over $200m dollars putting it in the top 10 of all time for cost....so he doubts they will ever get made. |

Im am reading the prequel series to the Vlad Taltos novels: the phoenix guards; 500 years after; the paths of the dead; the lord of castle black and Sethra lavode.
All and all a good read. Very different from the Vlad style of writing. An academic historian writing in a modern idea of what old style English sounded like. Or my version of it.
I found parts of it to be quite monty python like.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Have a good weekend.
Sincerely,
Con |

Åukianienko (that's how we spell his name in Polish) is a very popular writer over here in Poland. And I think he's very good. I've also seen a film based on "Night watch" and it's quite interesting, too (there's also a "Day watch" film, but I haven't seen that one).
And it's also nice to hear that he got published in English. _________________

Wolfsangel by MD Lachlan
Almost finished it now (I find time to read so fleeting these days) and I heartily recommend it. It has oddities for sure but it's a book that paints a very vivid portrait of the Norse world in which it is set and its mythos is rich and detailed. Good characters, a tight storyline and some terrific ction sequences. _________________ 'A human with a hand outstretched in friendship carries the fangs of a taipan in his palm.' That's one I've been meaning to pick up.
Just finished Lord Sunday by Garth Nix. Not an unsurprising end to the series.
Just started Surface Detail by Iain M Banks _________________
