Friday, November 11, 2005Barclay short to appear in US anthologyDemon's Touch, a short story based in Balaia, the home of The Raven, is going to appear in an anthology to be published by Daw books, hopefully in 2006. The Anthology called 'Army of the Fantastic' is the brainchild of John Helfers and John Marco and is coming out in association with Tekno Books. 'I was flattered to be invited to submit a story and delighted to have it accepted,' said James. 'I'm grateful to the two Johns for thinking of me. It was great to step back into the world of The Raven (well, post-Raven) and write another story and it's given me a nudge to pen more shorts based in the same world. Plenty remains to be said, plenty of questions are unanswered and while another novel seems unlikely, short stories are always an attractive prospect.' While there will be one in the back of the mass market paperback, that's almost a year away still so here's something for you in the meantime. Currently hosted on a temporary site (very kindly too, by Paul Maloney), the map will find a permanent home here as soon as we can build one. http://www.pmaloney.co.uk/ascendants/AscendantsMain.htm Enjoy... Wednesday, November 02, 2005The Ascendants of Estorea: Cry of the NewbornCry of the Newborn, the first book in James's new series, The Ascendants of Estorea, is on the shelves of bookshops, available from the SF&F bookclub and from plenty of online outlets. 'I'm very excited about the release of this book. It represents a step up in my writing and shows I can do much more than write about my first love, The Raven. I've enjoyed writing the book and first reports are that people are enjoying reading it too. The reviews are very positive and sales are excellent,' says James. 'There's another book to come and I'm deep into it right now.' More details and an excerpt will soon be available on this website. So will links to the amazon pages. We're also working on making a map available for those who want to get a view of the Estorean Conquord. We still wait details of where you can buy signed books... |
